How will a room look with black and hot pink?
My family and I are moving to a new home. Im getting a room and well, lets just say its not HUGE but it's not small either, ide say its medium size...anyways, i was wondering how it would look like if i painted the wall black, or used black/gray wallpaper...would the room look small? but, im not painting it with all black, i was thinking of a black wall, then a wall painted hot pink, then the other wall black, and the next hot pink also, would it look ok?
Dark walls tend to make a room look smaller, however, small cozy rooms can be very appealing.
If it were me, I'd pick a nice charcoal gray, like in a men's suit. I'd paint three walls in charcoal gray, and then I'd use painter's tape and make narrow stripes, and either paint them white, black, or pink [not shocking pink], to look like suiting material. Then I'd paint the feature wall either black or shocking pink.
Then I would use fabrics to bump up the chic black factor..specifically I'd look for a white background with black patterns; either a french toile or the french fleur de lis in black on white. Bold is good because that shocking pink or dark black wall is going to be so distracting.
I would definitely put a TON of artwork on that feature wall to tone it down some. Something like a series of black and white photos that you take yourself and frame in simple black or white frames and hang in an eye pleasing way.
I'd finish the whole thing off with a cheap chandelier painted matte black with light pink shades or pretty pink crystal beads, and then I'd find a way to incorporate pink feathers in my decor somewhere. Or pink fur.
Pink, black, white and gray have the potential to look very classy and French, like Victoria's Secret, only not quite that pink.
