Detective work [[help]]!!?

I would like to know more about being a detective.. starting with what do they keep in their purse or handbag?? Anyone have any suggestions?? Like from Nancy Drew or anything thanks!! Also if you have any more DETECTIVE answers for me thats a bunch!!

Hmm... I've read a lot of Detective books back then, Hardy Boyz, Nancy Drews, some 3 detectives with Alfred Hitchcock (forgot the title) and even Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson. And if you buy Detective Conan manga, the author always put some of world renown fictional detective on the back of the manga.

Manga like Detective Conan, Detective School Q, Young Kindaichi Files, stuff like that also my favorite. Maybe L from Death Note can be consider as one although we never see how he solved a normal case...
Some other stuff like Liar Game and Monster that used human psychology is my interest too..

Anyway, I'm not sure what they keep in their hand bag or bring along with them 24/7. Probably a notebook, you must take note of every information you get. It'll be useful unless you have photographic memory.
I think, to be a detective, you must be really observant. I mean really really observant. But that doesn't mean you must keep an eyes on one person. You must observe all the details in quick seconds. Observe the scene. Do this without anyone else noticed... that showed how good you are...

Observe anything you can see... like for example, you're looking at some guys. Observe him, estimated how tall he is, his facial structures, his habit, is he left handed or right handed, observe his clothes, you might know where he has been before, where he buy the clothes, you'll probably knows where he live from that.

You must has a wide variety of knowledge. You must be expert (not just good) at Math and Science. Used your logic as well as scientific explanation while you're working with some cases. This will help you to knows the probability. Do a research, read a lot of book. Don't just pick any book you like, you'll never know what information that will be useful on the future. Even some random information might be useful for you one day.
